Royals sign Wade Davis to minor agreement

The Royals announced on Wednesday that they have signed the right hand Wade Davis to a minor league contract. Davis, a client of Jet Sports, will presumably be invited to the Major League Spring Training and compete for a spot on the opening day list.

This is the second consecutive year in which Kansas City is bringing back one of its former All-Star shutters on a minor league arrangement. The Royals ink Greg Holland achieved a similar contract a year ago and benefited significantly when Holland not only submitted a rebound campaign but also agreed to return in 2021 to an affordable one-year deal.

Interestingly, reports The Athletic’s Alec Lewis (via Twitter) that Davis signed exactly the same contract that Holland did a year ago. Davis will earn $ 1.25 million salary if he performs in the big league and can get an additional amount of 1.125 million a month.

More to come.
