The vaccine registry opens Wednesday, easing restrictions in Lincoln Friday

LINCOLN, Neb. (COLN) – After 10 weeks in the red (severe risk), the COVID-19 risk band for Lincoln / Lancaster County switched to the Orange (high risk) category.

Five key measures are used to determine the position of the Risk Button: Case numbers; Testing ability; Positivity rate; Contact tracing; and hospital capacity.

With the reduction of the risk disc, the restrictions come from the city from Friday 22 January.

  • Restrictions of not more than 50% indoors and 75% outdoors, not exceeding 10,000 in total
  • Bars and restaurant capacity at 50%, parties of 8 or less, groups of 6 meters apart, must be seated, unless you order or use a bathroom; wear a mask if you are not sitting
  • Bars and restaurants can serve alcohol again until close
  • Youth sports venues may apply for LLCHD approval to allow additional spectators per participant; groups of spectators are limited to 8 people, groups must be 6 feet apart

Starting Wednesday at 8 p.m., Lancaster County residents will be able to access a new online vaccine registry that will notify people when the vaccine is available to them. This register will soon be available across the country.

It asks things like your name, address, date of birth, if you have underlying health conditions and how you prefer to be contacted.

“It contains basic information that can be used to determine what phase a person is in and when they can receive a vaccine,” said Pat Lopez, director of health.

According to Lopez, Pinnacle Bank Arena will be used as a vaccination clinic for some health workers in Phase 1A on Friday. Once the vaccinations for humans in phase 1A are completed, vaccinations for humans in phase 1B will begin.

1B includes people 65+, people with certain underlying conditions and specific groups, such as educators and other essential workers.

If you can get the vaccine, you will make contact and they will make an appointment.
