110 New Deaths Reported in Orange County January 18-19 – Orange County Register

The Orange County Health Agency reported 3,995 new cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, Jan. 19, increasing the cumulative total in the country to 214,808 cases since detection began. The update contains Monday and Tuesday’s number of cases because there was no message on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday:

Monday: 1,681 cases; 46 deaths; 14 853 tests given

Tuesday: 2,314 cases; 64 deaths; 12 430 tests given

There were 110 deaths reported across the country on Tuesday, raising the total number of deaths to 2,477.

The data on deaths in the country are compiled from death certificates or collected through the course of case investigations and it can take weeks to process. The most recent death was recorded on January 10th.

The province also reported 2,007 patients in local hospitals with the coronavirus on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, 523 patients were listed in intensive care units.

An estimated 39,776 cases of the virus have been recorded in Orange County in the past 14 days.

According to the provincial update, 2,457,987 tests for the coronavirus have been given since testing locally, with at least 27,283 new tests since the previous report.

Of the cumulative 2,470 deaths reported due to the virus, 765 were competent residents of the nursing home, 275 in assisted living facilities, one inmate in the OC and four as homeless.

The province’s death rate by age is as follows:

  • 85 and older: 34.52% (855)
  • 75-84: 22.69% (562)
  • 65-74: 19.1% (473)
  • 55-64: 13.24% (328)
  • 45-54: 7.02% (174)
  • 35-44: 2.06% (51)
  • 25-34: 1.13% (28)
  • 18-24: 0.2% (5)
  • 17 and younger: 0.04% (1)

It is estimated that about 143,618 people have recovered from the virus since Tuesday. The number of people who recovered is based on the previous cumulative case of 28 days.

The data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials stressed. More information may become available as individual investigations are completed.

As ICU capacity in Southern California declines, the percentages in this picture have been adjusted by public health officials to represent the high levels of COVID-19 patients among all ICU patients. More real beds may be available.

Vaccines administered from 17 January

The California Department of Public Health shows a total of 3,226,775 doses of vaccine, including the first and second doses, were sent to local health departments and health care systems from Jan. 17.

The total vaccines administered in six different regions are on the charts below. On January 17, a total of 1,393,224 vaccine doses were administered across the country. This is an increase of 609,748 in the January 11 report. The state warns that the numbers do not represent real daily changes, as reporting may be delayed.
