Vaccinations were previously restricted to health workers with an appropriate ID badge.
“We undertook this action today to add individuals aged 75 and older because they are at greatest risk,” said Dr. Wilma Wooten, the province’s public health officer, said. “It is our intention to extend the vaccines to 65-year-olds during the week of January 25, depending on the availability of vaccines.”
The new eligibility applies to the Petco Park vaccination superstation and other sites that receive doses throughout the country. More information is at coronavirus-sd.com/vaccine and appointments can be made online at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com
The province advised those seeking a vaccine to make an appointment first, wear a mask and bring identification.
