Long lines are the first day of the vaccination clinic in Lexington VA

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The VA Healthcare system in Lexington vaccinated more than 1,000 veterans today, despite challenges on the first day of the clinic.

The organization has presented a run-in system for the vaccination of COVID-19, which is the first event of its kind in the country.

The demand for the vaccine was huge. Veterinarians waited in the snow for a chance to get the shots. Some were in and out in less than an hour. Others waited much longer.

The VA said it hopes to improve the waiting time ahead.

“We are working to get everyone inside the hospital in the areas so we can get vaccinated as quickly as possible.” said Patrick Sinclair, volunteer service officer.

Regardless, the men and women in the queue who have served our country say everyone can help in this fight.

‘If you think about not getting [the vaccine], please think again, ”said veteran Thomas Harrison. ‘Please think again. Because it’s going to help the whole country. It is not just about the one person or the individual, it is about the whole country. ”

The boarding clinic will be open Sunday and Monday on the Bowling Campus near the University of Kentucky. The VA has adapted the original times. It will now open at 8 p.m. The cut-off point is at 14:00. Anyone standing in front of the parking garage in front will be seen.
