Denon today unveiled its latest home audio offering, the Home Sound Bar 550, with the most important feature for Apple users: AirPlay 2 support for wireless streaming of music to the audio bar from devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
In addition to AirPlay 2, users can send wireless music to the Home Sound Bar 550 via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so that music from services like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, TIDAL and others can be streamed. The audio bar can be connected to a TV with a single HDMI cable, and it is ‘Roku TV Ready’ to work seamlessly with Roku TVs.
With a six-driver array and ‘expert tuning’ of digital signal processing, Denon says the Home Sound Bar 550 was built to deliver the best sound quality in the class. The soundbar supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS: X surround sound formats, and a feature known as HEOS enables multi-room wireless audio for other Denon speakers.
The Home Sound Bar 550 can be operated with the built-in remote control or most universal remote controls, the HEOS app for iPhone and iPad, or the built-in illuminated control panel that automatically illuminates when an outstretched hand approaches. Denon says that users will also have the option to enable Alexa voice control on the soundbar in the spring of 2021, stating that the built-in microphones will not be activated without the explicit permission of the user.
Denon says the Home Sound Bar 550 will be on sale from authorized retailers starting February 2021, costing $ 599 in the United States.
