Sennheiser has a great reputation when it comes to audiophile headphones, and its latest earbuds prove that you do not have to skimp on the specifications regarding the more compact form factor.
The Sennheiser IE 300 is powered by a refined version of the company’s 7mm Extra Wide Band Converter, which he says will deliver a well-balanced audio signature with excellent sonic accuracy.
Inside the transducer is a diaphragm foil designed to reduce natural resonances and harmonic distortion, a transducer back volume to minimize reflection in the earplug housings, and a resonator chamber to reduce resonance in the ear canal. more detailed treble should lead.
A frequency response of 6Hz – 20kHz means that the Sennheiser IE 300 must deliver a striking bass, although frequencies below 20Hz are usually ‘felt’ instead of in the traditional sense.
Pristine sound on the go
Unlike wireless earbuds like Apple AirPods and Sony WF-1000XM3, the IE 300 has a 3.5mm cable with a gold-plated connector for durability.
Sennheiser says you can also buy balanced cables with 2.5mm or 4.4mm connections, which can reduce deformation. If you are really sound true, the option is to upgrade.
The Sennheiser IE 300, available in Europe on January 19, will cost € 299 – while the global price has yet to be confirmed, it is $ 360 / £ 270 / AU $ 470.
It is definitely expensive for some wired in-over headphones, though the sound-friendly specs can convince buyers to issue the extra money for the pristine sound.
Despite the perception that over-the-ear headphones always offer superior sound quality compared to their in-ear counterparts, we have seen an increase in sound earbuds over the past few years, with companies hoping to reverse the trend for small, convenient- to-use audio devices without sacrificing audio.
It makes sense – many earphone headphones are designed to be listened to at home, with open back designs that leak a lot of sound that can irritate people around you when you’re on the go. They are also often quite large, with large cables that do not exactly lead to listening on your commute.
As more brands bring their audio technology to the compact form factor, audio files no longer need to be housed in their Hi-Fi system to enjoy great sound – especially if large portable DACs exist. Whether models like the Sennheiser IE 300 can meet their expectations remains to be seen.
