The iPad is virtually designed to be the spiritual successor to the computer, and Kensington’s StudioDock, launched at the virtual CES 2021, fulfills the prophecy.
The StudioDock is designed to be easy to click on your iPad Pro (thanks to the magnets built into the tablet) and offers a miniature desktop experience, complete with a full range of ports as well as charging stations for your iPhone and AirPods. The sleek StudioDock has a machined aluminum housing, which makes your tablet look straight like an iMac. Aside from the StudioDock’s USB-C input, additional ports on the back offer an Ethernet cable, accessories such as mice and keyboards, as well as an external monitor on your iPad, while a neat 3.5mm port on the side lets you connect headphones (that is, unless you prefer to use AirPods), and an SD card reader to retrieve photo and video spills from your DSLR or drone. In addition to the fast charging of your iPad (USB-C at 37.5 W – that’s 108% faster than Apple’s own charger), the StudioDock even has Qi wireless charging surfaces on its base for your iPhone and AirPods and a dedicated dock on the side for your Apple Watch. It also exposes the top edge of the iPad so you can insert your Pencil as well.
The StudioDock is designed to use your iPad independently as a desktop, or even as a secondary monitor for your current desktop. The even dock has a swivel base so you can move your iPad from landscape to portrait whenever you want, something Apple’s own charging stand can’t do. Plus, it really gives you the freedom to use your iPad, but you want to see it – as a monitor, charging station, an improvised desktop with ports, or even as a tablet that you can use independently. The dock is compatible with all iPad Pro models and even the iPad Air 2020 and has a three-year warranty.
