AGDQ 2021 raises $ 2.7 million for charity

Awesome games done fast 2021 wrapped up after a full week of fast running. The event made an impressive call $ 2,764,437 for the prevention of cancer. This is the second highest amount raised at AGDQ, just beaten by last year’s total more than $ 3 million.

AGDQ 2021 was held online this time due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Participants streamed games from their own homes while viewers watched online. This year’s event had exciting highlights. Early in the week, two different Sonic world records were set by two different speeders, back to back.

Another runner has all the Celeste c-side planes using a Dance Dance Revolution dance block. I still can ‘t turn my head around one. The run also started with a cheat code that unlocks all the levels in the game.

Another big run took place in a match called Mr. Bones, one that many people probably have not played or heard of yet. The run took place during AGDQ’s annual “Awful Games Done Quick” block. This is part of the event where people, as the name suggests, play awful games very quickly. The run was so enjoyable to watch that it could have helped our very own Ash Parrish a little better with the horrific events of the past week.

I have always been a big fan of Halo speedruns, and this year we have a great Halo 3 speedrun in the game’s just released PC port. Growing up, Halo 3 was a match that took me more than a week to beat; to see someone break down the game in less than an hour and fifteen minutes, using various hammer and grenade tricks, was an explosion. The young teenager Zack would not believe it.

If you want to feel tired and sore, check out this speedrun from Klop Saber on expert +. Runner Kungfufruitcup does an excellent job of explaining the game and then making it look easy on the HARDEST difficulty. The best part of this speedrun can be at the beginning when she’s halfway through the first song of the run and strikes amidst dozens of notes within seconds, ‘We start a little simple.’

AGDQ 2021 has uploaded all the speedruns on its YouTube channel, so you can easily watch one of these runs or numerous others whenever you want. You can also still donate for the event.

GDQ teases already this year upcoming Summer Games Done event done and will have more information to share later.
