Santa Barbara County Sunday reports 779 new cases of COVID-19

The Department of Public Health in Santa Barbara County on Sunday reported 779 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, raising the province’s total to 21,323.

According to data from the health department, there are now 2129 active or contagious cases of COVID-19 in the country.

According to provincial health officials, Santa Barbara County reported an average of 445 new cases of the virus a day in the past week. There are no new deaths related to COVID-19 in the country.

The Santa Barbara County Community Data Dashboard shows that the test positivity rate of the Southern California region is at 11.1 percent. To return the Southern California region from the current press level to the red level, the test’s positivity rate of the region must be at or below 8 percent, according to state health officials.

The province’s data dashboard also shows that for every 100,000 people in the Southern California region, approximately 38.3 cases of COVID-19 are confirmed. To progress to the less restrictive red level, the region must have an adjusted rate of seven or less per 100,000 people.

Public health officials said 981 health workers in Santa Barbara County tested positive for COVID-19.
