Reigns-Pearce confrontation announced for WWE SmackDown

Roman Reigns will once again face Adam Pearce at SmackDown.

It was announced this afternoon in an ad during the NFL coverage on FOX that Universal champion Roman Reigns will face the new number one contender, WWE official Adam Pearce. A match between the two for the Royal Rumble has been officially made.

Reigns confronted Pearce at this week’s SmackDown, upset that Pearce made a match between Kevin Owens and Jey Uso in last week’s show. Reigns insinuated that Pearce wanted to place himself in the glove contest later in the show that would determine Reigns’ next challenger. Pearce denied this. Paul Heyman later told Pearce behind the scenes he pulled a few strings and put him in the game. Pearce finally wins the glove match after Reigns and Uso attacked Shinsuke Nakamura and ordered Pearce to cover him. He is committed to becoming the new number one candidate.

Based on the performance closing angle, a match was also made between Nakamura and Uso for next week’s performance.
