A $ 250 Gengar pillow is introduced in Japan, and it … it fits the character.
But if you’ve got the hang of it, you probably do not have enough luck. The soft, developed by P-Bandai, was made available for pre-order last night, but sold out in less than 75 minutes.
The pillow, designed after the classic ghost Pokémon, is 48 cm long and 53 cm wide. It’s a bit smaller than the ‘right’ size – the Pokedex places the average Gengar at 1.5m from tail to tip – but it compensates for its small body with its enormous tongue. In the main pillow of the pillow is bound more than five feet of stuffing, which can be rolled for various (seemingly) sleep-related purposes.
It is difficult to determine exactly what purpose the soft is intended for. Last year, Bandai released an official Metapod sleeping bag, but it’s much harder to figure out where to rest your head when it comes to Gengar. Some promotional photos show how a model builds up the tongue to use as a pillow, but others feature the model resting their head in the Pokémon’s mouth and using the elongated tongue as a very thin mattress, while others still suggest that the tongue as a blanket. I also have several questions about why Bandai continues to position its bedding articles as part of a businessman’s homework environment, but that’s another matter.

It is not clear if there is a second wave of pre-orders or sales, and if the item will be shipped separately outside of Japan. As devastating as it may be, you can at least rest assured knowing that the pillow is pretty accurate for the Pokémon games, thanks to Gengar’s ability to learn both licking and hypnosis.
