According to an ESPN report, UFC Bantamweight Irwin Rivera was arrested Thursday in West Palm Beach, Florida on several charges of attempted murder. More specifically, Rivera is accused of stabbing his two sisters.
According to the incident report obtained by ESPN, Boynton Beach police officers were called to a residence and found two women, aged 22 and 33, with multiple stab wounds. Both women were alive and taken to hospital. One of the sisters revealed that they were staying in one of Rivera’s spare rooms when the UFC veteran attacked them with a knife.
Thursday morning at 7 p.m., police arrived in Rivera. The refugee fled the scene. According to the report, Rivera said, “I killed my sisters.” He admitted that he entered his sisters’ bedroom while they slept and stabbed them with a ‘brass knuckle knife’. Rivera told police he was of the opinion that the assassination attempt was his goal, which was assigned to him by a ‘higher power’.
The UFC has released the following statement to MMAFighting:
“The UFC is aware of the recent incident with Irwin Rivera and has subsequently received information from his management that he is exhibiting behavior that is consistent with mental health issues,” the statement read. “The allegations are extremely worrying, and the organization is currently gathering additional information. The investigation continues and all possible subsequent steps, including disciplinary steps or medical attention, will be determined after that. Furthermore, the UFC has informed the management of Rivera that he is not going to be offered a match at the moment. ”
All three of Irwin’s UFC matches took place in 2020. He lost a brief notice debut to Giga Chikadze before sharing some decisions with Ali AlQaisi and Andre Ewell.

I wonder why Japanese boxers are supposed to follow this rule while MMA fighters (as far as I can see) are clear?
Kazuto Ioka is in trouble by the Japanese Boxing Commission because he had visible tattoos during the Tanaka fight.
The JBC rules are that you may not have visible tattoos in fights if you are a foreigner.
JBC is considering dealing with the issue.
