Oregon Health Authority reports ten more deaths from COVID-19, 867 new cases

‘Technical problems’ have reduced the daily number of cases, says the agency

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) – COVID-19 claimed ten more lives in Oregon, increasing the death toll from the state to 1,568, the Oregon Health Authority reported Thursday.

OHA also reported 867 new confirmed and suspected cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 Thursday, bringing the state to 121,085.

The agency said the case today is less than expected due to technical issues.

Vaccinations in Oregon

On Thursday, OHA recorded 5,249 doses of administered vaccine – including 995 seconds of doses – which increased the total number of doses from the state to 66,920.

This figure is based on preliminary reports of 3,429 doses administered on Thursday, as well as 1820 doses administered on previous days, which have not yet been recorded. All vaccinations took place at Oregon hospitals, long-term care facilities, emergency medical services agencies (EMS), emergency care facilities and local public health authorities.

To date, 250,100 doses of vaccine have been delivered to locations in Oregon.

The Charles health system gave 2,462 vaccinations with Pfizer-BioNTech earlier Thursday.

COVID-19 hospitalizations

The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in Oregon is 462, which is 18 less than Wednesday. There are 91 COVID-19 patients in beds for intensive care units, which is 29 less than Wednesday.

St. Charles Bend reported 32 COVID-19 patients early Thursday, six of whom were in the ICU, four of whom were on ventilators.

The total number of patients in hospital beds may vary between check-in times. The numbers do not reflect admissions per day, nor the duration of the hospital. Staff restrictions are not captured in this data and may further limit bed capacity.

Oregon’s 1,560th COVID-19 death is a 74-year-old man in Clackamas County who tested positive on Dec. 22 and died Jan. 2 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center. The presence of underlying conditions is confirmed.

Oregon’s 1,561th COVID 19 death is an 85-year-old woman in Tillamook County who tested positive on Dec. 29 and died in her home on Jan. 5. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 1,567th COVID-19 death is an 88-year-old man in Josephine County who tested positive on Dec. 3 and died Jan. 5 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center. The presence of underlying conditions is confirmed.

Oregon’s 1,568th COVID-19 death is an 81-year-old man in Josephine County who tested positive on Dec. 15 and died in his home on Dec. 26. He had underlying conditions.
