Nintendo Switch New Version Codename Aula Given; To include the OLED screen, the new dock, the 4K support and more

The next Nintendo Switch review, which is rumored to be underway for a while, will include an upgraded OLED screen and according to new information shared online, it may need a new dock.

SciresM, a well-known console hacker and data miner, has discovered a new Nintendo Switch review name codenamed Aula, as reported on the ResetERA forums. This new hardware version apparently uses a Mariko SoC. This new model will not be just one, as Aula does support manual mode.

Kingdom Come Deliverance to Release on Switch Next Month – Rumor

Nintendo is actually working on a new model with upgraded displays and has been around for about 1.5-2 years. I personally believe it is 4K given the characters I see in the firmware, but it has not been confirmed yet and may be incorrect.

The new hardware has the code name Aula, it uses a Mariko SoC. There are a lot of references to it in code (atmosphere already supports the new screen in theory).

Aula explicitly supports the manual mode. It is not just moored; it is calcio, which seems to be released for internal / never only, as Calcio has no gamecard slot and no battery.

The new Nintendo Switch version will feature an upgraded OLED screen, but SciresM is not sure about the resolution. However, the console is going to support 4K resolution in some form, as Aula has firmware support for a Realtek chip that advertises itself as a ‘4K UHD multimedia SoC’. This chip, according to SciresM, could be taken up in a new dock.

The tablet itself definitely has an upgraded screen, I do not know if it is 4K.

Aula also has a Realtek chip with firmware that advertises itself as a ‘4K UHD multimedia SoC’, so I believe it’s 4K. The chip may be in a new dock and not in the tablet, but there is still no way to know from the firmware code.

I checked my previous reviews with hexkyz, the upgraded tablet screen is an OLED screen. Probably not a higher resolution on the tablet itself, so I think the 4k realtek chip is more likely to be a new dock than I thought.

According to the dataminer, the Mariko SoC will enable better performance thanks to better cooling and battery life.

Mariko has * significantly * better cooling and battery life. It’s a bona fide death knell over the original generation.

My best guess (pure speculation, no firmware indication that this is the case) is that if they need extra performance, they will push it to higher clock speeds.

But yes, I speculate that games would be like “DSi-enhanced” games, or like how some games benefited from PS4 Pro despite working on PS4.

There have been rumors for a while about a new Nintendo Switch review, and with this information included in the firmware, it is likely to get closer. We will keep you informed of the matter as soon as more comes in, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
