Happy new year everyone! With 2020 finally in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look ahead to the upcoming video game releases in the first weeks of this fresh new year. During the holidays, we looked at 30 upcoming Switch games that we are looking forward to, but below we have summarized the biggest game and accessories that will go into retail in the first two months of 2021.
While Nintendo is keeping a lid on its plans for later in the year, we see the first major release of 2021 (at least the only one announced) when Super Mario 3D World make the leap from Wii U to Switch with a few extras Bowser’s Fury content and game adaptations in February. Fortunately, there are also many third-party titles in the works. Overall, 2021 forms a very exciting one for Switch owners.
So it may be cold outside, but here are some warm little numbers to keep you warm during the winter. This is unless you are in the southern hemisphere, in which case it is cool new versions will help you relax in the summer!

This sequel to Cow Tecmo Europe and developer Gust Studios Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout sees Ryza return as the lead actor, the first character in the history of the long-running RPG Atelier franchise to take the lead role in two consecutive titles.
Last year, we interviewed Junzo Hosoi, producer of Atelier Ryza 2 and brand manager at Gust, and we’m excited to see how this latest installment compares to the previous game.

One of the Wii U ports we’ve all been waiting for, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury offers a customized experience that expands on the original 2013 platform with new content. There’s a double pack of Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo coming in on the same day, so expect an abundance of cuteness and a chance to appreciate this excellent title again when it finally arrives on Switch.

Japanese Switch owners got their hands on this hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors crossover in the form of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers back in February 2020, and it is now finally planned for a Western release with a minor name change.
While these may not be the Persona 5 fans they’ve been waiting for, we have some excellent Warriors crossovers in the form of Fire Emblem Warriors and recently Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. It has the potential to be an equally nice mash up, so while we’ll hope Atlus brings the P5 properly to Nintendo’s console, we’re interested in seeing what Omega Force has in store.

Bravely Default II slipped from the original release date in early 2021, but that of Square Enix prosecute is one to watch for fans of the 3DS originals, or anyone with a penchant for traditional JRPG gameplay and turn fights.
If you are interested in what you see, there is a demo available on the Switch eShop that can give you an idea whether Bravely Default is your cup of tea or not. Look at that.
