CNN saw Roy not wearing a mask and had an animated exchange with floor staff. Roy declined to comment to CNN after leaving the floor.
Asked for comment, Greene’s office said the congresswoman was “completely healthy and tested negative for COVID in the White House yesterday.”
“Speaker Pelosi addressed the congresswoman directly and demanded that she put on her mask while on the floor,” the spokeswoman told CNN in a statement.
Moore, who wore a mask on the House floor on Sunday, said in a statement on Tuesday that she was followed by the leadership of Dr. Brian Monahan, the attending physician of the U.S. Congress.
“While I was quarantined immediately on December 22 and tested positive the next day, I worked diligently with doctors to put my health and public health first,” she said in the statement.
And three lawmakers, two Democrats and one Republican, voted Sunday through a “safe envelope” as they were exposed to someone with Covid-19 but, according to the Capitol doctor, tested negative for the virus. CNN witnessed GOP representative Jeff Fortenberry voting Sunday from a plexiglass-enclosed area above the house floor, wearing a mask and a face shield.
A senior Democratic assistant told CNN Greene that the Covid-positive Democrat was not accurate. The assistant adds Greeneand Roy has been repeatedly asked by the gun sergeant to put on their masks. According to the House Rules, members must wear their masks on the House Floor at all times.
“The detailed logistics guidelines for January 3 presented to you by your home sergeant and arms and treating physician have been completely abandoned,” the IDP leaders wrote. “The reality is, (the plexiglass structure) was built because it was politically beneficial for you to have members vote for you on your behalf.”
The Democratic assistant also told CNN that the GOP leadership’s letter Tuesday was “full of lies.”
“None of the members were positive; they were all tested symptomatically and negatively,” the assistant said.
This is not the first time Greene, a conservative first-year student from Northwest Georgia, has been reprimanded by Home Staff for entering the floor without a mask. She was repeatedly told on Sunday to also wear a mask.
Greene told Newsmax on Tuesday she would “fight back” over the requirement to wear masks on the house floor because “all the rules went out the window on Sunday”.
