One of the developers, going through PIROWO, has rediscovered the Magic Castle source code a while back. They decision to finish and release it, four consoles generations later.
Magic Castle has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, such as EuroGamer notes. It contains dynamic music and you can adjust the position of the user interface. There are four character classes to choose from and 20 floors with random elements to get through.
You can download the game from the internet archive and play it with an emulator. To give you a taste of what to expect, here’s the original VHS pitch that the Magic Castle sent to publishers.
The story may not be over yet. On the internet archive page for the game, it is noted that the game is in a fully playable state, except for a few missing features: support for four players and a Japanese translation. It promises that an updated version will appear soon.
