Health authorities are warning Australians to remain vigilant, even if there are signs that coronavirus clusters are being brought under control in the country with the two most populous countries.
New South Wales said on Sunday it had been located eight locally-exaggerated cases in the past 24 hours, compared to seven the previous day. The outbreak in the state originated from a group originally from the Northern Beaches region of Sydney that had spread to other parts of the city and now infected more than 150 people.
The neighboring state of Victoria has detected three new cases in the past 24 hours, its health authorities said on Sunday. The score is lower than ten new cases recorded the previous day.
Australian health authorities rushed to get on top of the bunches that disrupted the peak summer holiday period. The nation got it right suppresses community broadcasts largely through careful testing and contact tracing, by placing restrictions on international arrivals, and by isolating all travelers returning from overseas in quarantine hotels for 14 days.
The Sydney outbreak spurred the government of New South Wales tightening of social restrictions. As of Monday, individuals in Australia’s largest city not wearing masks in indoor venues such as shops, churches and public transport will be fined A $ 200 ($ 154).
More than 18,900 people in New South Wales were tested on Saturday. Acting Prime Minister John Barilaro on Sunday insisted on an increase to maintain the state’s record of success in limiting outbreaks.
Victoria’s virus response commander Jeroen Weimar has also urged residents in his state to maintain test levels, especially if they have returned from New South Wales after their shared border closed on Saturday in an attempt to contain bunches.
“People need to be vigilant that they are not over yet,” Weimar said.
