More than a million people in the US received the first round of vaccinations in the US. The forerunners Pfizer and Moderna have so far been handed out in the country and are shown to be safe after months of trials. But there is a question as to why the children are not yet able to get the Covid-19 vaccine?
The Pfizer vaccine is good for 16 years and older, while Moderna is 18 years and older. Although it is safe, there is a warning that is encouraged by doctors when taking the vaccinations for people who have had adverse reactions to vaccinations in the past or are allergic to vaccines.
However, the vaccines are not for children, as the authorized vaccines have not yet been tested on children under 12. The vaccines are usually first tested in adults and once the vaccine is found safely in adults, it will be tested on children.
Another important reason is that Covid-19 mostly affects adults as children. According to the CDC report of September last year, there were only 121 children among the 190,000 people who died from coronavirus.
Also that children are found to spread by half to those of adults, even though they are good carriers.
Moderna is reportedly planning to start clinical trials in children between 12 and 17 soon.
