4521 new COVID-19 cases on the first day of 2021

Alabama has added more than 4,500 new COVID-19 cases since yesterday.

The January 1 data from Alabama’s Department of Public Health shows 4,521 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the state’s total to 365,747. The state added 45 deaths – some a few weeks back – bringing the total to 4,872.

Hospitalizations grew to 2,815.
