Saturday night’s joint game between Duke and Florida State has been postponed due to COVID issues that appeared in the FSU program on Friday night, sources told CBS Sports.

The ACC has yet to decide on a date for a possible makeup game. The postponement also calls into question Florida State’s scheduled game (5-2) on January 6 against Syracuse.

Duke announced a few hours earlier on Friday night that coach Mike Krzyzewski, the no. 20 Blue Devils’ tilt in Florida 18 had to be missed after being exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Duke flew to Tallahassee on Friday, but Krzyzewski did not travel with the team, in an effort to comply with the standard quarantine protocols.

Head coach Jon Scheyer was supposed to serve as acting head coach for Saturday’s game. Here was Duke’s initial statement before the FSU news landing later Friday night.

Duke would end a dismissal more than two weeks after the competition. This was only the last setback for the team linked to the pandemic, which so far has been mainly linked to scheduling. Four of his games this season have been postponed or canceled due to COVID-19 spending, most recently the December 29 game against Pitt, which has been postponed due to COVID-19 spending within the Panthers program.

Duke (3-2) struggled through non-conference games and especially canceled his previously postponed non-conference games in December while deciding not to reschedule so players could spend time with the family during the holidays spend. This is Duke’s worst start since the 1999-2000 season.
