Lee Meason, from Springville, Utah, was caught on video shouting ‘Are you kidding?’ when he applied the pink glasses and was amazed to see colors and shades he had never seen before.
“I see things differently than before!” he told family members as he looked through the room and looked down at the shirt he was wearing.
His son Spencer Meason shared the special moment on social media, saying it was a ‘fantastic gift’ and that his father’s response was ‘invaluable’.
Heart-warming footage captured the moment when an 80-year-old man saw color for the first time after his grandchildren gave him color-blind glasses for Christmas.
The video begins with the 80-year-old sitting in an armchair and opening a box.
“Color-technical glasses,” he says, with a bewildered smile on his face as he lifts off the lid.
A woman’s voice is heard from the camera saying, ‘Yes, I remembered.’
A male voice is heard saying, ‘They’re supposed to be a little cool. Open them, try it. ‘
Meason then takes the pink glasses out of the box and hands them to someone nearby while saying ‘wow’.
He notes that he can “fly a plane” with the pink shades in pilot style, while his family tells him “they look cool”.
Meason takes the glasses and puts them on.
He looks around in shock for a few seconds before saying ‘are you kidding?’ when he sees color through the special lenses for the first time.

“I see things differently than before!” he told family members as he looked through the room and looked down at the shirt he was wearing. “I did not know it had different shades,” he said.
The woman is heard asking, ‘Are you kidding me? Do they really work? ‘
Meason looked through the room with a surprise on his face.
“Look at that lamp there,” said the woman.
“Wow, yeah, I did not know it was like that!” exclaims Meason.
His delighted family members say they now have to ‘teach him colors’ when they show things outside the camera and tell him what color they are.
‘Are you kidding? Where the hell did you yell this ‘Meason’ again from the glasses because they are all laughing nicely and he keeps saying ‘wow’ and ‘ahh’.
The 80-year-old tries to take it all in, looks through the room and up at the ceiling before looking at his own arm and his patterned green shirt.
