URBANA – Local authorities are taking two more restaurant operators in Champaign County to court after both restaurants allegedly remain open for business after their health permits were suspended.

Charles Buck of Billy Bob’s, E. Broadway St. 105, Ogden, and Jeff Buckler, owner of Lil Bufords, 102 N. Long St., Tolono, were charged with ordinances for the operation without a valid health permit.

The Department of Public Health in Champaign County has suspended the admissions of both restaurants after they were allegedly observed serving indoors in violation of a state order.

Service at both pubs and restaurants is currently banned due to the spread of COVID-19.

Lil Buford’s permit was suspended on December 17 and Billy Bob’s permit was suspended on December 11.

Buck and Buckler were both due to appear in court on January 21.

Late last week, public health officials in Champaign County suspended seven health permits in connection with the defiance of the state order by serving indoors.
